Promoting your site using social bookmarking

A wonderful way to drive short targeted bursts of traffic to your site is to use social bookmarking sites like StumbleUpon or Digg. These sites work in the same basic principals that other users “vote” on pages and the better the page, the more traffic that site will send. The less people like it the less traffic it sends.

This is great, the only problem is when new webmasters are launching their site, its hard to get the thumbsup or content dugg! Well there are some sites out there that assist with this problem. While maybe not morally correct as it could be seen as exploiting a system that’s a choice you and your own personal god will have to make.

“Drive short bursts of highly targeted traffic to your site to increase earnings and exposure for your site”

My main goal of this site is to provide you the information needed to be successful, so I’ll provide a few of these services that have helped me in the past, and while I no longer use them, they are great ways to get your site up and running with traffic and members. StumbleUdon is a service to exchange stumbles with, In the past I’ve seen articles go from 0 views to over 1100 in a matter of 2 hours and the hits will keep coming through out the month for more. StumbleUdon is a invite only service so you’ll have to find an invite. Lucky for you (or the first person to read this) an invite is right here.

Another service is PiqqUs.com. This service is a little more robust and will let you exchange diggs, stumbles and propels. The site works the same way where you use your own accounts to digg or stumble sites, then you receive credits which you spend for your own diggs or stumbles.

Both of these sites deliver quality traffic that will also increase your earnings on most advertising programs. StumbleUdon by far is the easier of the two to use, and so far as sent more traffic then other services.

I’ll give you the responsible warning right here; Over use of either of these services will result in your account being banned from them and/or your site being banned from them. You should not use this as your main means of a traffic source, it’s only good once every few days, and for short bursts of traffic. Good luck with your newly found knowledge on how to drive loads of traffic to your site for free!

  1. Here’s another StumbleUdon invite if anyone needs. So far, I’m quite impressed with the service, though of course don’t expect a miracle.
