You maybe wondering what the goal of Search Engine Optimization is, and Search Engine Marketing. Its pretty simple, and your goal like every other website owners goal is to get as many people as possible to their site. You want your site visited and found by everyone possible, and for them to keep coming back for different searches.
You’re probably wondering how these people are suppose to find your site? Some may accidently stumble upon it from another site, or a email link or word of mouth from other people. But the main source of new organic visitors will be from search engines such as Google, Yahoo, and MSN.
When a “searcher” goes into one of those search engines, and makes their search query they’ll be presented with massive amounts of information in seconds. This page is the search engine results page or SERPs for short. It is right here, where 80% of all searchers click on the first page, and only on sites that they can deem trustworthy by reading the descriptions listed.
Statistics and studies have shown that if you’re not listed on that first page of the results, usually the top 10, the chances of you getting that searcher to your site is close to zero. Most people rarely click to page 2, they’ll most likely start a new search, or use a different search engine. This is where search engine optimization comes into play, and thats how you get your site listed in the top 10 by Search Engine Optimization.
