Google Verifies “Adsense Blending”
While we were on our daily adventures a few weeks ago, we discovered a Adsense blog that made it seem as if blending your adsense units was now against the TOS. Which we thought was odd, because all this time, they were teaching us how to blend the ads, so they’ll fit right in our pages.
We weren’t the only ones that were tricked for a few weeks, and it actually took the posting of an Adsense Advisor over at WebMasterWorld to clarify the situation for a lot of users. The adviser basically said that, Ad blending is allow, BUT it can not blend in with the page, in such a way it may confuse the user that it’s actual content.
So as we assumed it’s not the fact that you’re blending the advertisements in, its more of how you blend the advertisements. Some useful tips are to make the links different colors then the surrounding font, put a border around the adsense unit, or clearly label the ad unit with a word such as “Sponsor” or “Advertisement”.
Hopefully this puts to rest all the panic, that was induced. So be sure to check your pages that your ads blend, but they don’t blend so much, they’re confused as content.
