vBulletin 4.0 will be available soon
| CommentsThis is a quick note to alert you that we are fully engaged with the Internet Brands, vBulletin.com and vBulletin.org to discover more about vBulletin 4.0. As soon as we receive the software, a demo site of vBulletin 4.0 will be set up for you to try out the functions. We will communicate to you via another newsletter or you can follow us onTwitter @seovb or our website for the latest breaking news on vBulletin.
The presale event for vBulletin will continue until the end of October, 2009. Even though there are many features promised by the vBulletin team, there is no demo, video, or documents to provide further information. There are only a few screenshots available. We would like to quickly address a few common questions from our clients as follows:
1) Should I purchase the upgrade?
As long as you are still holding a valid Owned License, you can get the free upgrade to 4.0. HOWEVER,
A) We are still trying to confirm if we need to pay for the upgrade to access any future upgrade on 4.x.x or 5.x.x.
B) You will need to pay $130 if you want to get the the Publishing Suite
2) Should I take advantage of the Presale Sales?
If you and your community are happy with vBulletin and you are planning to run your community for a long time, then our recommendation is YES. Take advantage of the presale event and get a discounted price.
3) Will my current theme and mods work with the vBulletin 4.0?
The answer is NO for the themes and MAYBE for the mods. As we have learned, none of the current themes will work under the 4.0 version unless it has been modified. The mods depend upon the implementation and coding. Some mods that do not entirely depend on the vBulletin functions and hooks might work, but all will have to be tested.
4) Should I plan on migrating my WordPress or Joomla to the Publishing Suite?
Wordpress and Joomla have been on the market for a long period of time and were tested and well supported by many plugins. The main benefit to move to the Publishing Suite is the integration between the Blog and the Forum. At this time, we still need to see the real product before we can provide further recommendations.
At this point, we cannot make any solid recommendations for our clients to move to version 4.0. We would like to see more evidence that the new version is as solid and as stable as the current versions and that the features are all mature enough to support your community. Remember, the vBulletin team clearly indicated that version 4.0 is a complete rewrite.
We will send out another newsletter when we get more information. Meanwhile, please follow us on Twitter to get the most recent news from us.
Thanks,

Google does not index the Meta Keyword
| CommentsKeywords meta tag issues in regard to search engine results have been a growing hot topic in the world of online business. People are often curious, and sometimes quite nervous about how often Google uses “keyword/s” meta tags in its web search rankings. There are sometimes arguments and even issues with people getting angry about one person using another person’s name and such as keywords to draw in hits on web searches. In fact there have been many lawsuits filed for just this reason, where people feel someone has unjustly used a keyword or several keywords that he or she uses in her own keywords. Perhaps Suzie and Bill are in the same industry and drawing from the same customer pool. Both are seeking to draw customer attention to their own website. Then Suzie finds out that Bill has used her business name and some of their best lines in his own keyword field. Does Suzie have a problem? Google says no.
While these things can become hot topics, especially in regards to business and drawing in new customers to one’s website, Google representatives say there is little to no reason for people to get upset about keyword usage when it comes to the ever-popular Good web search. Google now admits that it almost never uses “keywords” meta tag in its web search rankings, unlike some of the other search engines.
Google does use some meta tags for the Google Search Appliance so that people can specify only return results if matches a certain meta tag, but this is not relevant for the main core web search. They simply have found that people have expanded the keywords far too much for the information to be useful. In an effort to draw in web traffic they have actually watered it down so much that most people have a difficult time finding a website that is relevant.
Google does use meta description, however. Often a good meta description tag that is considered useful, it will be used in whole or in part in their own snippet in the search result. Again this is different than keyword meta tag. Google simply feels the keywords field is not helpful in bringing searchers the relevant links and therefore ignores the keywords meta tag.
So when it comes to keywords meta tag and Google search results, there is no need to fret if a competitor or unfriendly neighbour copies a word or two. It will make no difference to how many Google searchers are directed towards your website.
When was the last time that you check your settings? Or do you even know where do you specify the Meta Keyword and Description?

Official Support Help Desk Now Open
| CommentsWe’ve had our share of communication problems here lately with us not getting emails, and our clients unable to receive our emails. To remedy this situation we’ve decided that installing an official support help desk is the most viable solution at this time.
The software we’re using is pretty common around the internet and most users should be familiar with using it. All current and former clients can easily submit a ticket, fill in the requested information and have their work performed within 24 hours*.
We hope you’re as excited about this as we are. It will let us track progress for your projects along with past and current issues on file. When you submit your first ticket, be sure to include all the requested information to speed the process up. We’re working on getting SSL to our support section, your information that is currently submitted there is still 100% safe.
You can find the support help desk by clicking the “Support” link in the navigation menu. You can submit a ticket any time, and tickets are free to create so feel free to make one for every contact with us!
We’ve launched version 2.0
| CommentsWe want to welcome everyone to our new layout and hope its easier to navigate, find information your looking for. We want to thank our previous clients who have graciously let us use their website images and tell everyone about the services we’ve performed for them.
As some of you maybe aware the company has underwent a partial ownership split, and was the main driving force behind the site upgrade. We no longer offer only email support for projects, instead we are using a support desk software to track everyone’s needs better.
You can get signed up for your support account at our support help desk. We hope this remedies any email problems and communication issues that may have occured in the past. Not only will it make communication easier, you’ll also be able to track our response times, and keep track of all the changes you’ve requested for us to do.
You can continue to reach us at our email address you’ve previously used as well, but due to stricter email filtering on the server we can not gaurente we are getting all emails, or all of our emails are being sent out at this time. We hope to have this situation solved soon, and for that reason we encourage you to use our help desk.
The ownership split brings new services to our company as well. Previously we focused mainly on vBulletin services, now we can offer a wide array of internet web solutions that will be relected on our site soon. If you’re in need of website development at affordable costs, we encourage you to use our contact form and tell us what you’re looking for.
