Backlink Building Tips

The other day we discussed a back link building method called “Link Baiting“. We received some feedback from users, and most of them wondered if we had any additional advice on building backlinks for brand new sites. They all seemed to face a similar problem that they couldn’t get their message out to enough people to make it good bait. Well I said Bullocks to them and told them to read the Social Bookmarking article here to help improve their reach.

But anyway, since i’m a generous person, i’ve compiled 7 link building tips anyone can follow.

  1. Never buy or sell site wide links. Google recently enforced a huge penality for sites doing such a horrible thing. Instead get links from pages that are inside the domain, such as this page, rather then the main page of the blog
  2. Don’t get your PR0 site linked from PR5 sites. Instead build your links coming back slowly and naturally, start with other PR0 sites, and then move your way up the page rank scale, this will increase your SERPs and build strong page ranks.
  3. Do not get a massive amount of links coming back at once. Control the rate at which your incoming links are flowing. To many links coming back all at once, could interpret easily into spam by many spiders
  4. Make natural looking links. Use different anchor text, descriptions, titles mix it up. Remember to also link to your inner pages, and not just your main page.
  5. Reduce outbound links. Every page gets so much “link juice” as its called in the business. Refrain from flowing your juices all over the place if you can. Try to limit out going links on each page of your site and start to make good use of the nofollow tag for certain links.
  6. A link from a relevant site is the best, but do not ignore links from sites in different languages or niche if they are still a quality site
  7. Never, ever ever ever, never do reciprocal link exchanges. Directories are probably the most famous for this, and its only wasting your page space by doing such a thing.
